A few months ago, we invited Ventura County to unite and learn about the harmful effects of implicit bias in our community’s schools. We brought together community activists, nonprofit leaders, teachers and administrators to confront their assumptions on bias and learn about solutions.
That afternoon, we issued a challenge: if a member of the community had a plan to address this problem, we would consider helping to fund it.
We are excited to announce that on June 28, 2017 we will introduce the recipients of $25,000 in grants to fight bias in our schools. Each organization will tell us a little about their current efforts and how they plan to utilize the additional funds from tonight’s grant.
