On September 10, 2016 Ventura Stories and Social Justice Fund of Ventura County combined to host an event titled Education and the American Dream. Citizens, professional educators as well as CA state and local politicians combined to explore the current state of Education in California in various ways:
- shared personal experiences helped and hindered our own education experiences,
- examined the effect of reduced funding throughout CA,
- explored the history of educational funding in CA,
- discussed ways to increase funding without increasing taxes for the middle class and low income households.
