SJFVC Timeline
January 1, 2004 The Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJF) was conceived in 2004 by a group of philanthropic and nonprofit leaders in Ventura County.
January 1, 2006 After conducting a community assessment and developing a strategic plan, SJF launched its first Giving Circle (a pooled fund of donors who leverage their individual gifts and make grants together) of donors in 2006, which resulted in our first grants awards of $50,000, allocated to seven community groups.
June 1, 2006 2007 – Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) campaign was proud to award $50,000 between 7 different groups.
June 1, 2008 2008 – Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) campaign was proud to award $50,000 between 7 different groups.
June 1, 2009 2009 – Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) campaign was proud to award $50,000 between 7 different groups.
June 1, 2010 2010 – Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) campaign was proud to award $50,000 between 6 different groups.
June 1, 2011 2011 – Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) campaign was proud to award $55,000 between 8 different groups.
January 10, 2016 Sadly Angeles Arroyo (Small) submitted her resignation to the SJFVC board.
June 12, 2016 On June 12, 2016 Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJFVC) held it’s 8th fundraising event “Currents of Change”, at Los Robles Greens Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.
February 25, 2017 SJFVC offers a free workshop on Sat. 02-25-17 focusing on bias in education.
