Robert is the interim Dean of Student Learning for Physical Sciences and Career Education at Moorpark College. He has been committed to enhancing the Career Education field by encouraging students to enter into programs that lead to transfer and workplace readiness. Prior to this, he served as the dean of Career Education at Oxnard College. He was a tenured faculty member at Oxnard College and taught courses in Business and Accounting. He also lectured in Accounting at CSU Channel Islands. Robert’s academic leadership includes an executive board position with the California Community College Association of Occupational Educators (CCCAOE), Academic Senate President, and statewide positions such as the Academic Senate of California Community Colleges CTE Leadership Council and the Joint Special Populations Advisory Committee (JSPAC). In 2013, the National Community College Hispanic Council (NCCHC) recognized Robert as a national fellow. In 2014, Robert received a fellowship with CSUCI, which focused on cross-institutional alignment. In 2021, he was awarded a fellowship with California Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
Robert has over 20 years in banking and finance management; he held management and leadership positions with Citibank, Wells Fargo, and Pacific Capital Bancorp. He currently serves as the Treasurer for CBC Federal Credit Union and chairs the Financial Governance Committee. Robert earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Economics at the University of California at Santa Barbara, a Masters in Organizational Management from Antioch University, and a Masters of Science in Accounting from Walden University. He earned the professional credential of Certified Project Manager from Stanford University.
Robert is a Rotarian and former Chairman of the Board for the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of the Ventura County Leadership Academy and Leadership Conejo. Robert was a past recipient of “Business Man of the Year” from the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. Robert and his wife, Pelar, live in Moorpark with their two sons, Gavyn and Tyler .
